Hennessy Artistry @ Tao Terraces, Bangalore in a Nutshell

Hennessy artistry returned to Bangalore with another top weekend party in the city last week. Tao Terraces, one of the venues that’s currently the talk of the town hosted homegrown hero Ash Roy, and Canadian stalwart Guillaume Coutu-Dumonts along with a stunning visual set-up hosted by VJ Abhi.

Soupherb label co-founder and former Jalebee Cartel member Ash Roy kick-started proceedings for the evening with a minimal warm-up set. It’s rare to find artists who understand the essence of a live music set across the country and his introduction had the Bangalore live music crowd turn up early for a dose of fresh electronic dance music sounds.

Following his beats, Guillaume Coutu-Dumonts took over to give Bangalore’s well-heeled and educated audience a live set that mixed electronic percussion and live programming. Guillaume’s quest for music, percussion and its antecedents was evident with his set that travelled across genres: from house to tech house and funk with dash of jazz. He also played several unreleased productions as well homemade bootlegs by Fela Kuti, Prince and Nina Simone (some of which are available under his Shimmy Sham Sham alias.

Hennessy artistry also took the visual set-up beyond the usual with video installations, LED walls and visual mapping. All elements combined to create one of the top weekend parties in Bangalore.
