Wild City’s April Playlist

[Recent Event Audios, Recent Event Videos]

Head honcho of Indian magazine and cultural hub, aptly named Wild City DJ a.k.a Moniker has a peculiar and varied taste in music.
Straddling hip-hop, garage, grime, bass, house, techno, alternative electronica and anything in between, WCDJ always brings an informative set, favouring upfront and left of centre music over yesterday’s tired hits. Having been a part of the underground electronic movement in London for a number of years WCDJ brings to the table a fresh and undeniably UK sound to his live shows. Hennessy artistry spoke to Delhi-based artist to give us a playlist that ranges from Indian indie to brooding electronica from Pakistan and bass music from across Europe.

Rumah – Stutter

This dropped yesterday and comes from the Church crew in London. It’s only their second release, with their first being a complete banger from Happa. Bounce!

NewYork Nights – Homeboy Sandman

Serato and Stones Throw recently teamed up combining two records with a Serato control tone and exclusive tracks. One of my favourite labels with my DJ software of choice, plus it’s an absolute roller.

Rachel Row – Follow The Step (Kink Beat Remix)
We recently toured Phon.o who got me into this track. I’d never heard of Rachel Row until then. It may even be one my favourite Kink tracks. Such a lovely beat.

Peter Cat Recording Co – Love Demons

One of my favourite Indian bands, and an act behind the most impressive music video I’ve ever seen come out of the country. I love what they do in the studio, on stage and in life in general.

Sulk Station – Piya (_RHL remix)

A remix of a track from one of India’s biggest electronic secrets, by one of the country’s most talented producers. It gets a lot of plays in Wild City HQ. It’s also up for free download.

Phon.o – Leave A Light On

We recently had this Berlin based, 50 Weapons signed artist, touring India. This is one of my favourite tracks from his ‘Black Boulder’ LP.

Kahn – Badman City (feat Flowdan)

Kahn is one of my favourite current bass music producers from the UK. In a step away from his earlier productions, he’s collaborated with the mighty Flowdan, for a monstrous release.

Chi.Boss – IslamabadVice

Pakistan’s brooding electronica scene excites me greatly. This was the opening track for Forever South’s ‘Collection Vol.1’ compilation. I’d recommend you keep an eye on this little collective. It’s also up for free download.

LV & Okmalumkoolkat – Sebenza

LV’s ‘Sebenza’ LP was one of last year’s game-changing releases. This is the brilliant title track. It never gets old.

H.O.S.H. Feat. Ost & Kjex – Woohoo

Gaurav Malaker dropped this during his brilliant supporting set for Phon.o in Delhi this weekend. I had to find out what it was called and have since probably played it over 10 times.
