Hennessy Artistry returned with a bang to the season with another top billing of five diverse artists reflecting a range of styles and genres contributing to one of the best weekend parties in Chennai. Q’Bar, with its spectacular location on the rooftop of the Hilton, offered a bird’s eye view of the city, while patrons had an equally enticing choice of music with five of the country’s top artists lighting up the live music scene in Chennai.

Local hero Dominic Rozario dropped in just the right amount of groove with his warm-up electro set. The Chennai live music crowd always the most responsive in the country responded equally enthusiastically to the DJ’s beats. Soon, it was time for loop station sensation Vasuda Sharma, who has only just recently returned from a stint at the acclaimed Berkley College of Music in Boston. The singer-songwriter-loop master kept the audience hooked with her mixed bag of goodies. Chennai live music  lovers definitely appreciated the opportunity to catch such a unique act at such close quarters.

Bombay scene starter Kris Correya then took over console duties to play a first-time live set with his city counterpart Kini Rao. The duo dipped into their vast experience playing to clubbers across dance floors to play beats from electro to techno. And by the time Delhi beat monster DJ Jayant aka Jitter made his way to the stage close to an hour after midnight, the gig was already on its way to being one of the best weekend parties in Chennai. Jayant toyed with the clubbers as he went from techno to trance to broken beats, all the while keeping his fingers firmly on the pulse of the crowd.

Hennessy Artistry stayed true to its commitment of mixing art forms without compromise as VJ Decoy also performed an excellent light show displaying her visuals over six LED panels that complemented the music well. And no-one was left in any doubt that Q’Ba was the scene as Hennessy Artistry wrapped up a memorable gig to kick start the season with one of the best weekend parties in Chennai.
