Radisson Blu Temple Bay, Chennai

Hennessy Artistry signed its monthly series of gigs in Chennai with an all-star line-up of the magnificent seven at the Radisson Blu Resort in Mamallapuram.

Over the past three months, Chennai’s audiences have proved themselves to be some of the most open-minded and progressive clubbers in the country and Hennessy responded to their positive vibes by bringing together international and local acts for one of the best weekend parties in Chennai.

From across the shores, Austrian producer-DJ Megablast (who played Hennessy’s first gig in India) and MC OG Spiritual Goddess performed to give live bands in Chennai a taste of how its done. Local beat warriors Vijay Chawla and the always-enterprising Shiva Moon contributed quality DJs sets. While Arjun Vagale, M.Mat and Loopkin (the latter duo from Bhavishyavani Future Soundz) rounded off an star-studded event.

The evening kicked off in the sand by the sea and with a glorious sunset as former Speed resident Vijay Chawla took over the decks to warm up the crowd. Chawla has been at the forefront of the scene playing to capacity crowds at weekend parties in Chennai and he did not disappoint. His funky formula for the audience was as fresh as the fish in the ocean. Soon after, Shiva Moon sprinkled some of his grooves on the audience who had showed up well in advance to catch a glimpse of their local heroes and international live bands in Chennai.

Mumbai’s masters of the beach-vibe M.Mat and Loopkin teamed up with Indian electronic music pioneer Arjun Vagale for sets on the beach that created a vibe that weekend parties in Chennai have never seen before.

For the final, live music concert part of the evening, Austrian duo Megablast and MC OG Spiritual Goddess teamed up to show live bands in Chennai how its done – their performance was an example of showmanship and style. It was a fitting tribute to Hennessy Artistry’s unique twist to the night. The entire evening was complemented by excellent visuals too, a fresh element to weekend parties in Chennai. There’s no doubt that Hennessy Artistry’s final gig of the summer was a tribute to the city’s fantastic clubbers and we’re looking forward to the next season to bring down more live bands in Chennai and even more memorable gigs.
